Finished Mosaic #9 For Book!

I'm so happy to be done with this mosaic. It took a very long time, my longest yet, AND it created more future work for me: I had to change a couple of things to make them work for this design, and now I have to change them in previous mosaics! It's times like these, I wish I were a painter!

Here are a few detail shots. I've been adding as many personal touches as I can to this book. Raymi, our cat, features heavily in this book! The guitar is my husband's. And all of the artwork on the walls will be of my already completed mosaics. I take photos of them and put them in between two pieces of glass. I then seal the edges with tape so the grout doesn't seep through later. Here's a couple of my cats!

I won't be starting mosaic #10 for a few weeks (but hopefully sooner) while I work on a design for an upcoming project. More details on that to come later!

  5. I love it! Your old mosaics turned into actual tessera... it is sort of trippy, like those drawings of a person holding a mirror and they are within the mirror , within the mirror and so on. Also reminds me of actors that play cameo roles ... Hithcock was always hiding as an extra in his films. Clever and witty! Great work.

  11. CB- I haven't stopped by to comment in forever, but I have been keeping an eye on your progress. I know the stress now that you are under in writing your own book, as I too am going through the same in writing mine at the same time. I can not imagine the time involved in your book as my images have all been done by a camera. Your determination and ability to keep on trucking is amazing to me. So many times I have felt that I am hanging on by my nails, and I have to just dig in and keep on moving. You have been working at this much longer than I have had to since you are using mosaics to illustrate your book. I commend you on all that you have done. Your hard work will DEFF pay off in the end. Bless you for all that you have done in making this project come alive. Congrats today and in the finished project that will follow.
